# DID Revision Proposal

A 2017 proposal for modifying the W3C Decentralized Identifier (DID) specification so that key management is a first-order feature and existing URL parsing tools can be reused. It compares URL and DID ABNF syntax, discusses DID fragments, self-certifying data, operations and hierarchical deterministic key generation, and ends with an email exchange about DID path syntax. Predates KERI.

Labels: reading level Implementer; evidence informative (an author's paper, deck, tutorial or post explaining the suite).
