# Cryptoperiod Catastrophe: Misapplication of bare signatures/anon-signatures to non-ephemeral verifiable credential

A 29-slide deck by Samuel M. Smith arguing, from the cryptoperiod concept in NIST SP 800-57, that bare or anonymous signatures are misapplied to long-lived verifiable credentials and entitlements. It covers key exposure risk, closed and open loop entitlement verification, identity attack statistics for 2024, and the case for issuances anchored to rotatable key state.
