# How KERI tackles the problem of trust

An article by the Jolocom development team, first published on jolocom.io and reposted on DEV Community, on establishing trust over networks. It notes weaknesses in certificate authorities and in decentralized identifier (DID) methods that depend on central registries, then explains KERI's hash-chained key event logs, event types, validation rules and witness-based conflict resolution. For developers new to KERI.
