# Bytewise and Externalized SAIDs

A 2024 paper by Daniel Hardman defining two algorithms that extend CESR self-addressing identifiers (SAIDs) to arbitrary files treated as byte streams: one embeds the SAID at a delimited insertion point in the file, the other places it in a file name constrained by an instruction inside the file. It gives ABNF and regex syntax, a threat model, and a pointer to a Python reference implementation, and is for implementers bringing documents and media into authenticated data graphs.
